Chelsea are closely monitoring the situation surrounding Lyon star Rayan Cherki after the 21-year-old refused to rule out a move away from the French club.
The Blues, along with several Premier League rivals, are reportedly interested in securing the services of one of Europe’s brightest young talents.
“We’ll see at the end of the season if I’m still here or not,” Cherki said after Lyon’s recent 3-2 Europa League victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, leaving the door open for a potential departure.
The attacking midfielder, who has been a standout performer for Lyon since his emergence in 2019, boasts an impressive record of 22 goals and 31 assists in 157 appearances. Despite signing a contract extension until June 2026 in September, Cherki’s future remains uncertain as Lyon face mounting financial difficulties.
French outlet L’Équipe suggests that Cherki could even leave as early as January, with Lyon needing to raise funds urgently to avoid relegation.
Valued at €30m, he is the club’s most valuable and sellable asset, and his sale could go a long way toward stabilising Lyon’s financial position.
Chelsea, alongside Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle, and West Ham, are among the Premier League clubs linked with the French talent.
