Chelsea’s relegation to the UEFA Conference League this season may have been disappointing, but it has offered fans the chance to explore new destinations. One such adventure took place in round 5, as the Blues embarked on a 10-hour journey to Kazakhstan to face Astana.

Despite the bitter -11°C temperatures, 500 dedicated Chelsea fans made the trek to cheer on their team. To show appreciation for their unwavering support, the club handed out commemorative key rings featuring the phrase “over land and sea” along with the distance from Stamford Bridge.

However, there was one glaring error: the key rings measured the 3,485-mile distance to Almaty, Kazakhstan’s former capital, rather than Astana, where the match was actually played. The true distance to Astana is another 1,215 kilometres away.

While the mix-up drew attention, fans took it in stride, with some even joking that such errors only make the memorabilia more valuable to collectors.
