Chelsea forward Pedro Neto has shared his experience of playing in extreme conditions during the club’s Conference League win over Astana in Kazakhstan.
With temperatures plummeting to minus 11 degrees, the young Chelsea side had to adapt quickly to the harsh environment.
Reflecting on the game, Neto admitted the freezing weather was unlike anything he had encountered before.
“In England it’s cold, but not as cold as this!” he joked in an interview with the club’s website. “When we first went to the pitch, it was colder than I thought it would be. It was really cold, I think the coldest I’ve ever played! We are not used to it.”
Despite the bone-chilling temperatures, Neto highlighted how the team overcame the challenge with determination and preparation. “After you got warmed up, it was a little bit better,” he explained. “It’s not easy to play in this weather, but we had the right attitude and the right game we prepared. We showed the aggressiveness we needed to. We did really well and we are really happy.”
Neto’s comments reflect the resilience and focus Chelsea brought to the match, ensuring a crucial win in challenging conditions.
