Latest update on Chelsea’s rumoured point deduction

Chelsea

Some time ago, there were talks about Chelsea getting some points deducted off them.

Top journalist Ben Jacobs has now reacted to rumours of Chelsea getting some points deduction.

Ben Jacobs has labelled the speculation as “absolute nonsense.”

Speaking on an X space this week, Ben Jacobs emphasised that the Premier League investigation into Chelsea’s transfer dealings under the Roman Abramovich era is ongoing, and no charges have been filed.

Nottingham Forest and Everton were deducted points last season, and charged as part of the current Premier League Spending Rules (PSR) cycle.

The journalist claimed that Chelsea’s situation is different from Everton and Nottingham Forest.

According to Ben Jacobs, even if Chelsea were to be charged, a hearing would be required, and the process would likely drag on for a significant period, potentially taking a minimum of two years to conclude.

He also noted that Chelsea’s new owners, Clearlake-Boehly, would likely cooperate fully with any investigation, as they did with UEFA, which could potentially lessen the severity of any punishment.
