Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has repeatedly made it clear that Chelsea aren’t in the title race.

Even after Chelsea beat Southampton 5-1 to move up to second in the league and seven points behind leaders Liverpool, Enzo Maresca still refused to acknowledge Chelsea are in the title race.

However, Noni Madueke has gone against Enzo Maresca’s stance, and believes the Chelsea squad has the talent and mentality to compete with the best for the Premier League title.

“Of course, we are up for it,” Chelsea winger Madueke said when asked about the title race.

Madueke also spoke on the need for focus, improvement and taking each game as it comes.

Madueke went on: “We are trying to progress and trying to get better. We are focusing on ourselves, really, and really trying to improve.”

Madueke got a goal and an assist in the 5-1 bashing of Southampton, and he has revealed that the dressing room was happy after the game.

He said: “We won 5-1 and in the dressing room we are very happy with that, but we also know that we can be a lot better.”
