Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku is reportedly unhappy with his current state at Chelsea.
The Frenchman joined Chelsea as a top forward from RB Leipzig, but had to endure a debut season filled with injury.
This season, Nkunku is fitter and always available, but the Frenchman can’t find a place in the Chelsea first team.
Some rumours claim he’s keen on a move away from Stamford Bridge.
However, Enzo Maresca has made it clear that Nkunku is not for sale.
“Absolutely [he is not for sale], yes,” Enzo Maresca said in a press conference about Christopher Nkunku.
“The problem with Christo, not the problem but the same issue we have mentioned many times; if you play with Cole, Joao, Christo, Jadon or Noni – who is defending? Their skill is not defending. The last game, we tried with Joao and Cole together.
“Probably the best moment for Christo with us has been in pre-season, playing in his position. Since we started, he is playing as a nine for us. Against City, he played as a winger; knowing this is not his best position.
“His best position is as a 10 but Cole is playing there. We need balance.”
When asked if Nkunku was unhappy with his role at Chelsea, Maresca added: “Not at all. I spoke with Christo days ago – he did not say he is not happy.”
