Chelsea winger Noni Madueke caused a stir during the game against Arsenal, after walking straight down the tunnel after being subbed off in the second-half.

Madueke was withdrawn for Mykhailo Mudryk in the 68th minute, and he just walked down the tunnel rather than sit with his teammates.

Madueke’s action drew widespread criticisms, with Rio Ferdinand branding his behaviour ‘disrespectful’. He also said that Enzo Maresca should have punished the winger instead of defending him.

Madueke has given his version of the story, revealing that he went to use the toilet.

“I literally went down the tunnel to go to the toilet and I came back 30 seconds later,” the Chelsea winger said.

“If you watch a lot of games when I come off, I always go straight down the tunnel to go to the toilet. It is nothing major at all.”
