Chelsea were linked with Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon while Thomas Tuchel was still manager of Chelsea.

At the time, Gordon was an Everton player. With Chelsea unable to seal a deal for Gordon, the England international signed up for Newcastle.

Anthony Gordon has now admitted that he was close to joining Chelsea in 2022 to play under Thomas Tuchel.

According to the 23-year-old, he was desperate to play under Tuchel.

He revealed: “It was quite close to be honest. I was desperate to go at the time and work with him (Tuchel) especially.

“It was a big opportunity for me that didn’t end up happening and I’m looking forward to getting to work with him a couple of years later.”
