Crystal Palace have reportedly approached Chelsea with a loan proposal for Mykhailo Mudryk ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.

According to Football Transfers, the Eagles are keen to offer Mudryk a fresh start to help him unlock the potential that made him one of Europe’s most exciting prospects.

Mudryk’s journey at Chelsea has been a challenging one. The 23-year-old Ukrainian winger joined us from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 after a high-profile tug-of-war with Arsenal, with Chelsea ultimately securing his signature in a deal that could reach an eye-watering £88.5 million.

While Mudryk has undeniably shown glimpses of his explosive pace and skill, his impact on the Premier League has been limited, managing only five goals and four assists across 53 appearances.

This season, he’s found himself on the fringes of Enzo Maresca’s squad, logging just 143 minutes in the league with only one start that ended at half-time against Wolves. While he’s occasionally dazzled in the Europa Conference League, Mudryk has yet to find consistent form or a regular starting spot amid Chelsea’s intense competition, especially with summer signings like Joao Felix, Pedro Neto, and Jadon Sancho all vying for minutes.

Crystal Palace, currently in a tough spot near the bottom of the table, believe Mudryk’s directness and blistering pace could be the injection of creativity they need after the recent departures of Wilfried Zaha and Michael Olise.

Under manager Oliver Glasner, the Eagles are eager to find a “game-changing option” to help steer them clear of the relegation zone, and they view Mudryk as a player who can make a real difference.

A move to Palace could be mutually beneficial; for Chelsea, it’s an opportunity to let Mudryk gain valuable minutes and hopefully return stronger and more confident. For Mudryk, it’s a potential lifeline to rediscover his form and rhythm in the Premier League – and a chance to prove to Chelsea fans why we were right to believe in his talent.

While some Blues supporters may be reluctant to see him leave, even temporarily, a loan move could be just what Mudryk needs to regain his confidence and rediscover the electric play that once made him one of Europe’s hottest prospects.
