Former Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit has claimed that Enzo Fernandez isn’t in his right frame of mind.

Enzo Fernandez started the season as a key player in the starting line-up, but has now lost his place to Romeo Lavia.

Enzo Fernandez has looked off the pace in recent games, as he’s currently separated from his wife.

Speaking about Enzo Fernandez being dropped for Lavia, Emmanuel Petit stated: “Lavia and Caicedo have been amazing for Chelsea.

“It will take weeks, probably months, for him to compete and to compete for the first eleven, but he’s so far away at the moment. To be honest with you, Enzo Maresca is doing him a service by putting him on the bench because of what’s happening in his private life.

“He’s not there – in his mind – at Chelsea right now. It won’t help him by putting him in the team. It’s a good decision to keep him out of the starting line-up.”

Enzo Fernandez has five assists in 15 appearances for Chelsea this season, and has started six out of 11 Premier League games so far.
