In a thrilling development for Chelsea fans, Coventry City owner Doug King has confirmed that club legend Frank Lampard is in the running to become the next Sky Blues manager.

After Coventry’s unexpected decision to part ways with Mark Robins, who served the club for seven years, Lampard has reportedly thrown his hat in the ring as a potential replacement.

Doug King, speaking to Sky Sports, shared that the club has received an overwhelming amount of interest in the vacant role.

“We’ve received a huge amount of CVs from high-quality people of which Frank is one,” he revealed. King added, “We’ve done nothing on that process… but clearly we’re in the international break, we’ll be assessing everything.”

As Coventry fans eagerly await the decision, Chelsea supporters are surely keeping an eye on the future of Lampard, whose last role came when he returned to Stamford Bridge in 2023 as an interim manager.

Lampard briefly took the reins after Graham Potter’s departure, guiding the club until Mauricio Pochettino was appointed. Since then, he’s been without a managerial position, making this a potential comeback opportunity.

Coventry’s interim head coach role has been handed to Rhys Carr for now, but Doug King assured that they are actively evaluating candidates. “We’ll work out who’s going to make the shortlist and we’ll go from there,” he stated.

Chelsea fans will certainly be hoping to see their former legend back in the game, potentially bringing his passion and knowledge to Coventry City. With Lampard’s legendary status, it’s a story to watch closely.
