Chelsea winger Noni Madueke has revealed he’s set on securing a victory over Arsenal in Sunday’s London derby at Stamford Bridge, aiming to win “bragging rights” over his England teammates Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka.
The match promises to be an intense encounter, with Chelsea hoping to maintain their lead over the Gunners, who are in a tough patch with three winless Premier League games and recent losses to Bournemouth and Newcastle. Arsenal also suffered a Champions League defeat midweek against Inter Milan.
Madueke, who has been a key figure in Chelsea’s remarkable start to the season, will be eyeing a starting role in this high-stakes fixture.
The 22-year-old has featured in nine consecutive Premier League games, netting four goals in his impressive run, showing his determination to help Chelsea remain strong at the top.
“Whenever we don’t win, we are always frustrated, and Manchester United was exactly the same – we have to try and win those games. We also dropped points against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace,” Madueke shared, expressing Chelsea’s determination to convert these close calls into victories.
The forward is especially eager to secure a win for the added “bragging rights” over Rice and Saka, both of whom will join him for England duty under Lee Carsley after the match.
“There’s always a little bit of bragging rights with the boys, but I’m going into Sunday trying to win for sure, so are my teammates,” he added, giving Chelsea fans a glimpse of the intensity behind the rivalry.
Acknowledging Arsenal’s recent seasons as serious title contenders, Madueke remarked, “They’re still a great team, and they’ve challenged for the title for the last couple of years. But in terms of us, we are just going to prepare for this as we do any other match.”
With so much at stake beyond the three points, Chelsea fans can expect a fierce performance from Madueke and his teammates as they look to bring home a victory and keep pushing in the title race.
