Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter weighed in on Robert Sanchez’s performance in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal, suggesting that the goalkeeper may be disappointed with the goal he allowed at his near post.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Potter shared insights into Sanchez’s approach and acknowledged the high standards the Spanish keeper sets for himself.

“Robert Sanchez is the type of goalkeeper who will back himself to give a bit more space at that near post area,” Potter explained.

Highlighting the decision-making involved, Potter added, “We [pundits] sometimes say goalkeepers can’t get beat on their near post but what he’ll do is give a bit more space to give himself a better chance to save the one to the far post.”

However, Potter believes Sanchez will be his own toughest critic on this occasion. “In this case he will be disappointed. It’s close to him and knowing him he will be a little bit disappointed in himself.”
