Manchester United scored the first goal against Chelsea courtesy of a Bruno Fernandes penalty in the second-half, but Moises Caicedo scored four minutes later to level the scores.

For many, a draw was a fair result, but United defender Noussair Mazraoui has said Manchester United deserved to get the victory.

United however had a chance to reclaim the lead through Fernandes late on, moments after Alejandro Garnacho had also missed a good chance.

For Mazraoui, a draw was not a fair outcome.

“I don’t agree,” Mazraoui said, speaking to MUTV. “We fought really hard, but eventually, if you look at the game and the chances that we created, we deserved to win.”

“I did my best today and I was more involved in the attacking [play],” the Moroccan continued. “Lately, I have been more involved in the controlled things in the game.

“Eventually, it is my quality to also get involved in the attacking and support the wingers. That was what I could do today.”

Assessing United’s current situation, the defender added: “I think if you look at the table now you cannot say that is where we belong, and everybody knows that. We know that we have to step up and get away from there really, really fast.

“It is just not us. We have too much quality to be in this position.”
