Malo Gusto started the game against Manchester United.

Enzo Maresca deployed Gusto at right-back, with Reece James playing on the left side.

At half-time however, Enzo Maresca decided to bring on Marc Cucurella in place of Gusto.

The Frenchman performed well in his role, moving from right-back to attacking midfield positions and providing width on the right at times.

However, Enzo Maresca felt the need to change things at half-time, as Cucurella was brought on, and Reece James went to the right.

“It was quite clear. We tried something different tactically. Not an injury for Malo [Gusto], just a tactical decision,” Maresca told BBC.

Chelsea fans were also surprised they didn’t get to see Christopher Nkunku, who was left all game on the bench.
