Manchester United and Chelsea played out yet another draw at Old Trafford, with both sides sharing the points after a 1-1 draw.
There was an incident late in the game that called the attention of VAR.
Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez put in a late tackle on Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, but the referee only issued a yellow card.
Video Assistant Referee Michael Salisbury reviewed the challenge before announcing that Jones’s on-field decision would stand because, according to the Premier League, it was deemed to be a “reckless challenge and not serious foul play.”
Former United captain Roy Keane, who was covering the game as a pundit for Sky Sports, however said, “Martinez is a lucky boy. It’s a nasty tackle.”
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca however claimed it’s a red card, and reveals that he told the referee that Martinez should have been sent off.
“They [TV] showed me [the challenge] before the press conference,” Maresca told reporters.
“I think it’s quite clear for all of us and they [officials] took a different decision.
“When there is no intention to go for ball and you only go for the player, it’s a red. He [referee] didn’t say nothing, but when you go for a player or the legs, there is no doubt about the decision. I think it is quite clear it is a red.”
