Manchester United started their Europa League campaign with a 1-1 draw with Dutch side FC Twente.

United were heavy favourites to win the game at Old Trafford, but found it difficult to break through a stubborn Twente defence.

United’s play was sloppy at times, and former Chelsea player and Netherlands legend Ruud Gullit, has said he wasn’t surprised by Manchester United’s performance.

After the game, Gullit stated: “I saw Erik ten Hag talking to Garnacho all the time. The only thing a player is thinking during a moment like that is: ‘dude, leave me alone.’

“I am not surprised by the football Manchester United showed tonight. Why not? Because we are used to it by now. How many millions did Erik ten Hag invest in his team again?”

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is under pressure, with bookmakers predicting he’d be the first manager to be sacked this season.

For Chelsea, it has been a good start to the season, since the opening weekend defeat to Manchester City.
