Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel had a row with Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson earlier this season.
Mikel had questioned Jackson’s ability in front of goal, and even declared that Chelsea need a top goalscorer.
This prompted Jackson star to hit back with an Instagram post telling Mikel to “shut your mouth” and “don’t talk s**t.”
Speaking about it recently, Mikel insists his comments were “constructive criticism” and “come from a good place.”
“I’ve always said what I’ve said about Nicolas Jackson. He is a good player… The only criticism is his finishing needs to be much better,” Mikel told beIN Sports.
Mikel also acknowledged Jackson’s strengths, saying he is “in the right place at the right time” for the team.
Fellow pundit Ruud Gullit suggested Jackson may not agree with Mikel’s assessment, but Mikel Obi believes it’s common knowledge.
“I think everyone will understand what I am saying. It’s not coming from a bad place,” Mikel said.
Jackson has started the season with two goals in five appearances for Chelsea.
Mikel had also revealed how Chelsea were close to signing Victor Osimhen before the transfer window ended.
With Chelsea failing to sign Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window, Nicolas Jackson remains the club’s first-choice striker.
