There’s a cold war going on between the Chelsea co-owners, and it doesn’t seem to be dying down soon.
Todd Boehly represents the face of the Chelsea ownership, but his group has the minority shares, while the Clearlake side are the majority shareholders.
According to The Athletic, Chelsea part owners, Clearlake Capital believe that the current public falling out between their camp and Todd Boehly is a ploy to force them into a sale.
But what could be causing this war, after just two years of ownership?
The Athletic have revealed some interesting details about the ongoing war between Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital for the control of Chelsea.
The report by The Athletic has revealed the major reasons why the two parties are in conflict:
1) “A fundamental cultural difference in how the Premier League club should operate, with Clearlake and Boehly each believing the other has sought to unduly influence sporting decisions.”
2) “The decision to mutually part ways with head coach Mauricio Pochettino at the end of last season, which exposed the first public fault lines between Boehly and the club’s leadership structure.”
3) “A lack of tangible progress in the stadium project over the last two years, with the club not yet resolved on a revamp or rebuild of Stamford Bridge or moving to a nearby site at Earl’s Court.”
