The Chelsea owners appointed Enzo Maresca as the new Chelsea manager, after parting with Mauricio Pochettino.

Enzo has been tasked with rebuilding the Chelsea team, while playing attractive football.

Sancho broke through from the Manchester City academy before signing up for Manchester United. Enzo Maresca also worked with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

In his first interview as a Chelsea player, 24-year-old Sancho has said he knew Enzo Maresca from the time they had spent together at Manchester City.

Sancho said: “It’s the manager who really drew me to the project. I knew him from his time with Pep Guardiola in Man City. We spoke on the phone.”

However, Sancho’s statement is quite wrong — the pair never worked together at Manchester City. Sancho left Man City in 2017 and Enzo Maresca only joined in 2020.
