The new Chelsea owners have spent massively to build the Chelsea squad.

Chelsea have officially disbursed €1.28 billion, including add-ons, to build the current squad.

According to the CIES Football Observatory, no other sports team in the world has ever spent as much as Chelsea have to build their squad.

In the just concluded summer transfer window alone, Chelsea spent around £208 million on new signings, and also raised £189 million from player sales.

The closest to Chelsea are Manchester United and Manchester City, who have also breached the 1 billion mark as far as squad value is concerned. Chelsea however still comfortably top of the list.

CIES also disclosed that Chelsea have spent the highest figures ever recorded in the history of the game.
