Chelsea right-back Malo Gusto has pulled out from the current international break due to a thigh injury.

Gusto will not be able to play for France’s U21 side’s upcoming matches in the international break.

The French Football Federation have confirmed that the right-back is one of the three players to have withdrawn from the squad.

The French Federation said in a statement: “Three French players had to withdraw from the first day of the French Espoirs team gathering, Monday, September 2 at the CNF Clairefontaine. Malo Gusto (thigh injury), Andy Diouf (adductors) and Maxime Estève (wrist injury) were forced to withdraw.”

Gusto got a knock in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace, and it’s been yet to be determined how severe it is.

Enzo Maresca will be hoping to have the Frenchman available for action once club football resumes in a fortnight, with Reece James still nursing fitness problems.
