Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is reportedly in discussions to join Turkish giants Galatasaray on loan, following the collapse of his proposed move to Chelsea in the final days of the summer transfer window.
According to reports from Sky Sports Italy, Galatasaray have entered negotiations with Napoli regarding a loan deal for the Nigeria international, who has been sidelined by Napoli manager Antonio Conte.
Chelsea had been heavily linked with Osimhen and engaged in extensive negotiations with Napoli. However, both the club and the player failed to agree on terms, and the deal ultimately fell through.
Napoli had also accepted an €80 million (£67.3m) offer from Al-Ahli, but Osimhen declined a move to the Saudi Pro League for the second consecutive summer.
Now, Galatasaray are looking to capitalise on Osimhen’s uncertain situation and are negotiating with Napoli over the terms of the loan, including the Italian club’s contribution to the striker’s salary.
With Mauro Icardi sidelined for at least a month due to a hamstring injury, Galatasaray are in urgent need of a striker to bolster their attack.
The Turkish club has made a strong start to the season, winning both of their games in the Turkish Super Lig, and they face Tottenham in the Europa League in November. A move for Osimhen would provide a significant boost to their ambitions both domestically and in Europe.
The outcome of the negotiations between Napoli and Galatasaray remains to be seen, but the potential arrival of Osimhen would be a major coup for the Turkish side as they aim to strengthen their squad in the coming weeks.
