Chelsea were unable to send out members of their ‘bomb-squad’ before the end of the summer transfer window.
Enzo Maresca had made it clear that he wanted a squad of 22 to 24 players, with up to 14 Chelsea players banished from the first team and told to find new clubs.
Unfortunately, not every member of the Chelsea bomb-squad were able to get a deal before the close of the summer transfer window.
According to The Athletic, Carney Chukwuemeka and Cesare Casadei will now become part of Enzo Maresca’s first team squad.
After the injuries of last season, Chukwuemeka was slated for a loan move, but no club made an offer that satisfied all parties involved.
Casadei, meanwhile, was brought into the team after Lesley Ugochukwu joined Southampton on loan.
Casadei was a huge player for Enzo Maresca on loan at Leicester City last season. He returned to Chelsea in January, amid Chelsea’s injury crisis.
