Chelsea have been dealt an early-season setback as summer signing Omari Kellyman confirmed he has suffered a major hamstring injury that will see him sidelined for the next two months.

Kellyman, who joined the Blues from Aston Villa for £19 million in June, has yet to make an appearance for the first team but has been highly rated within the club and is seen as an important player for the future.

The 18-year-old attacking midfielder made three appearances for Chelsea’s U21 side before announcing the injury news on social media on Sunday, stating: “Gutted to have suffered a hamstring injury. Part of the game but I’ll be back stronger.”

The injury comes at a challenging time for Chelsea, as Kellyman is expected to miss a series of key matches, including Premier League fixtures against Bournemouth, West Ham, Brighton, Nottingham Forest, Liverpool, and Newcastle, as well as the beginning of Chelsea’s Conference League campaign.

Kellyman’s absence represents a blow to both his development and Chelsea’s squad depth, with fans now hoping the youngster can make a swift recovery and return to action stronger than ever.
