Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has shed light on why the club failed to secure the signing of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen on transfer deadline day.

Speaking candidly, Maresca emphasised that Chelsea is focused on acquiring players on their own terms.

“We want players, but we wanted a player that we decide it has to be on our conditions,” Maresca stated. “If a player is not here then it was not.”

The Blues had held talks to sign the Nigerian forward, but a deal was not reached. When asked about the possibility of a new striker in January, Maresca remained non-committal, saying, “We will see.”
