Chelsea beat Switzerland side Servette 2-0 in the first leg of the Europa Conference League at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea will play the second leg away in Switzerland on Thursday, and Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed the absence of Romeo Lavia, Reece James, Pedro Neto and Malo Gusto from the team in Switzerland.

“Romeo is still out. Reece is still out. Pedro and Malo are not in the squad, just for protection,” Enzo Maresca told a press conference.

Meanwhile, Enzo Maresca has maintained his stance that players axed from the Chelsea squad won’t get minutes at the club if they fail to leave before transfer deadline.

Enzo Maresca has divided his squad into two, with about a dozen players training away from the first team, including big names like Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell, Trevoh Chalobah and David Datro Fofana.

Chelsea have until Friday, August 30, to sell or loan out their banished players, and from the look of things, not all may eventually get a club.

“We’re gonna see. I prefer to be honest with the players, and with Raheem I have been exactly the same,” Enzo Maresca said in a press conference.

“The ones who are not involved are not going to be involved, and they are not going to get any minutes in case they stay.

“I don’t know what happens when the transfer window closes. We’ll see who is here and who is not here. The only thing I can say is the ones who are going to get minutes are the ones I feel can help us.

“It’s not just for Raheem. It’s for all the players that are training apart in this moment. When the transfer window closes they are not going to get minutes. I’ve been clear and honest with them, so this is the reason why.”
