Chelsea have confirmed that goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has joined Bournemouth on loan until the end of the season.

Kepa who spent last season on loan with Real Madrid, is among the players Enzo Maresca has banished from the Chelsea first-team.

Chelsea extended Kepa’s contract by a year before letting him join Bournemouth.

Kepa’s initial contract was due to expire in 2025, and that would mean Chelsea will lose their £72m signing for free next summer.

With his contract now expiring in 2026, Chelsea will be hoping Kepa impresses on loan with Bournemouth, so they can sell him for a decent price next summer, and recoup some part of his hefty transfer fee.
