Enzo Maresca has been very decisive in whom he wants to keep or sell, with a number of big names set to leave as they are not in the manager’s plans.

One player whom Enzo Maresca initially had doubts about is Noni Madueke. The 22-year-old winger fought off competition last season and later became a key player under former boss Mauricio Pochettino.

However, reports had been linking Madueke with a summer transfer exit, with Enzo Maresca also admitting that he could leave.

“I really like Noni, the only problem with him is he has to understand he needs consistency during the week in every training session,” Maresca said in his press conference after Chelsea beat Servette 2-0, with Madueke coming on as a substitute to score the second goal.

“But he is a good player and he is doing well with us since we started.”

Asked if he wants the winger to stay, Maresca added: “Yes, absolutely. But the problem is, the reality is that until the transfer window is not open, anything can happen. But for sure, Noni is the type of player that I like.”

Noni Madueke has now shut down talks of an exit following his performance against Wolves.

Off the back of scoring against Servette, Madueke bagged a hat-trick against Wolves, as Chelsea won the tie 6-2.

Enzo Maresca hailed Madueke after his performance against Wolves.

The Chelsea manager said: “I judge Noni’s performance which has been fantastic, not only second half, even in the first half – the first 10 or 15 minutes he was always creating something.

“Since day one, I said he is the kind of winger I like, is working very good with us. The best thing from him was not the hat-trick but the way he defended 90 minutes, that shows everything I am asking from the players.”
