Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly was caught on camera walking out before full-time, in Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester City.
In what was the first game of the season, and Enzo Maresca’s official first game in charge as Chelsea manager, Chelsea lost at home to Pep Guardiola’s side.
After Mateo Kovacic scored Manchester City’s second goal, Todd Boehly was seen hurriedly getting up from his seat and heading back into the hospitality area.
Reacting to the incident, former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp slammed the transfer strategy implemented by Boehly.
He said on Sky Sports: “Normally we have 11 v 11 on a Thursday, trying to get the squad playing together. You’ve got 20 players that can’t even get in the 11 v 11. How can that be right?
“The best teams in the Premier League over the last five years work on the basis of 24 or 25 players in their squad. How and why do they think that they’re going to reinvent football and try to do this.
“You’re making the manager’s job virtually impossible with the group of players that they’ve got.”
