Mateo Kovacic joined Manchester City last summer, and has now started the season on a blast for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Kovacic was a key player for Chelsea, after signing for the club in 2018. The Croatian international was eventually sold under the Todd Boehly era.

Kovacic scored a brilliant goal against Chelsea, as he meandered through the Chelsea midfield, before slamming the ball past Robert Sanchez.

However, Kovacic refused to celebrate his goal against his former club, and he has explained why.

He said: “I don’t score many goals and when you score you want to celebrate. But I have a huge respect for Chelsea, I spent five years here.”
