New Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has said he’s not responsible for the large squad at Chelsea.
Chelsea have a large playing squad with a lot of youngsters coming through as well.
Enzo Maresca has said it’s up to the Chelsea directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart to sort out how to trim the squad.
Enzo Maresca however joked that they may have to pay him more if they need his help there.
He said: “We were in America for 20 days with 28 or 29 players. We have guys that are not involved and are training apart. At the moment, it is not difficult. If I start to think I have 43 players, it’s probably not a good thing.
“This question is for Paul and Laurence. They are trying to find solutions for these type of players. I am not the guy in charge of finding solutions for young players, otherwise they have to pay me double [laughs].”
Enzo Maresca signed a five-year contract worth with Chelsea, and according to reports he will receive around €5m (£4.25m) per season in wages.
