Manchester United legend Roy Keane has cast serious doubt over Chelsea’s latest acquisition, Pedro Neto, predicting that the Portuguese forward will struggle to make an impact at Stamford Bridge due to his injury history.
Keane, never one to mince words, expressed his concerns during a heated exchange on The Overlap with Sky Bet, where he dismissed the notion that Neto could become one of the signings of the summer.
Neto, who recently completed a £54 million move from Wolves to Chelsea, has been tipped by some, including former Arsenal striker Ian Wright, to be a standout performer for the Blues.
However, Keane was quick to disagree, citing the 24-year-old’s consistent injury problems as a major red flag.
“No! He’s always injured! F*** sake. He’s like [Luke] Shaw,” Keane retorted when Wright suggested Neto could be a game-changer for Chelsea.
The Irishman went on to describe Neto as someone who will “add to the chaos” at Chelsea, predicting that the winger’s time at the club will be plagued by injuries.
“He will run everywhere and then spend six months on the treatment table with a hamstring injury,” Keane bluntly added, underscoring his skepticism about Neto’s ability to stay fit and deliver on the expectations that come with his hefty price tag.
Keane’s remarks add to the growing debate surrounding Neto’s transfer, with many questioning whether Chelsea’s investment in the injury-prone winger will pay off.
As the new season approaches, all eyes will be on Neto to see if he can prove his critics wrong and establish himself as a key player for the Blues—or if Keane’s harsh prediction will come to pass.
