Not many Chelsea fans are thrilled with the incoming signing of Samu Omorodion, after all the Blues have already signed a young and developing striker in Marc Guiu.
Samu Omorodion also scored 8 goals in the La Liga last season, which doesn’t help his profile.
From being linked with the likes of Victor Osimhen to Benjamin Sesko and Julian Alvarez, Chelsea were expecting a huge striker signing, which apparently won’t be happening.
So, what’s in it for Omorodion who has barely even featured for Atletico Madrid. Is he really worth the gamble?
Here are 12 reasons why Samu Omorodion could be a good signing for Chelsea:
Versatility: Omorodion’s ability to play multiple attacking positions, including as a striker and winger, provides Chelsea with tactical flexibility.
Physicality: At 6’4″, his height and physical presence can dominate defenders, offering a different attacking dimension.
Technical Skills: Despite his size, Omorodion possesses excellent ball control and dribbling skills, making him a well-rounded attacker.
Work Rate: His high work rate and pressing ability fit well into high-intensity playstyles, and will be a good fit for Enzo Maresca.
Finishing: Known for his clinical finishing, he can be a reliable goal scorer for Chelsea. Although scoring 8 La Liga goals last season isn’t a great achievement, but he did that with lowly Alaves. Imagine what he can achieve with a better midfield.
Aerial Ability: His height makes him a strong aerial threat, beneficial for set pieces and crosses.
