In a recent interview with Men in Blazers, new Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca outlined his ambitious vision for the club, emphasizing the need to compete with the top teams in English football.

Maresca, who took over the managerial reins just three weeks ago, acknowledged the challenges ahead but remained optimistic about Chelsea’s potential.

“The target is to try as soon as we can to compete with the teams that are now dominating English football like City, like Arsenal,” Maresca stated, highlighting the club’s aspiration to challenge the current powerhouses of the Premier League.

Maresca pointed out the significant stability and continuity that clubs like Manchester City and Arsenal enjoy, attributing their success to long-term managerial tenures.

“City are with the same manager 8-9 years, Arsenal are with the same manager already for 5 years,” he said, contrasting this with Chelsea’s more recent changes in leadership.

“So, I think that at this moment the big difference between us and them is just a matter of time,” Maresca continued.

He emphasized that while Chelsea may not need as many years to reach the same level, patience and time are essential components in building a competitive team. “Hopefully, we can reach that level earlier but it requires time.”

Maresca’s comments reflect his understanding of the importance of stability and long-term planning in achieving sustained success.
