The Samu Omorodion to Chelsea deal had been on this summer, but later appeared to have lost steam.
It now appears that Samu Omorodion is edging closer to completing a move to Chelsea, as Atletico Madrid have found a replacement for the young striker.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano tweeted: “Atlético Madrid have submitted official bid to Manchester City to sign Julián Álvarez.
“Deal depends on Omorodion’s exit as Chelsea are in talks over £35m deal to sign Samu from Atlético, advancing well. Domino on but Samu leaves only if Atlético agree Julián deal.”
Omorodion scored eight goals in 34 La Liga appearances last season while playing on loan for Alaves.
Chelsea consider the 20-year-old an exceptional talent.
Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is also closing on a move to Atletico Madrid.
Romano confirms the two deals are independent of each other and Chelsea are still interested in the forward.
He wrote: “More on Samu Omorodion. He’s been discussed again in recent talks between Chelsea and Atlético, separate deal from Gallagher.
“Understand Chelsea are prepared to bid €35m to advance in talks but decision will be up to Atlético. It depends on Atlético’s plan.”
God forbid this Chelsea club. You sold your valuable asset and go on to buy a player that you have those who are better than him.
Is a shame to Chelsea, when others are going for better player’s you are going for 8 goal player a strike in that matter, athletico to sale 8 goals striker to Chelsea and buy Alvarez. Complete shame
