Enzo Maresca worked with Raheem Sterling at Manchester City, and knows the Englishman too well.
Sterling has seen his role and even reputation drop at Chelsea, and has played different positions under different managers.
New Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca, has insisted that Raheem Sterling will actually play as a winger under his regime.
Enzo Maresca was asked about his plan for the 29-year-old, who has had to play different roles at Chelsea.
“The position of Raheem, for me, is a winger; the position he was in the first four games with us. I don’t see him in another position,” Enzo Maresca said.
“In any game, it can happen when we need to use him in a different position. For sure, he is one of our important players, together with the rest.
“At this moment, sometimes he is playing from the start, sometimes he goes inside. The important thing is we give him minutes, and he is doing well.”
Sterling scored eight goals and provided four assists in 31 Premier League appearances for the Blues last season.
