Chelsea have recently completed the signing of goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal.
The 22-year-old joins Chelsea to fight for the starting role, and he’s expected to be the first choice goalkeeper this coming season.
Jorgensen has made it clear that he’s coming to Chelsea to battle Robert Sanchez for the number one role.
“I came here to compete with him (Sanchez),” the Danish goalkeeper told The Athletic.
“Then, of course, the one who chooses is the manager. I try to do my best every day, to get better. Then at the end of the day, it’s the manager who will decide who will play.
“We (Maresca and Jorgensen) talked a bit (before joining). He wanted me to come here and I wanted to come as well. It was a short conversation just to get to know each other a little bit.
“Everyone welcomed me very well, to be honest. Robert as well. He seems to be a very good guy, a good trainer, and I think we will compete good. We will have good competition.”
Jorgensen made his first Chelsea appearance in the 3-0 win over Club America, coming on as a substitute for Robert Sanchez.
