Chelsea have confirmed their 28-man squad that will fly off to the USA for their 2024 pre-season games under new boss Enzo Maresca.
Chelsea academy product Trevoh Chalobah and Alfie Gilchrist were not part of the squad, while the players who went into the Euro 2024 and Copa America knockout stages will join the squad later. That includes the likes of Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.
Chelsea aim to send Gilchrist out on loan for the 2024-25 season, and he has received offers from Preston North End and Sheffield United.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chalobah has been told by the Blues’ hierarchy to stay home. The officials believe that the squad is too packed in defence, with the likes of Wesley Fofana, Tosin Adarabioyo, Levi Colwill, Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi to choose from in the centre-back role.
