Newcastle United have initiated contact with Chelsea regarding a potential move for winger Noni Madueke, as reported by Football Insider.
The 22-year-old has been identified as a key target alongside West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen and Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville, as Newcastle aims to strengthen their right-wing options.
After missing out on Michael Olise, who transferred to Bayern Munich for a reported £50.8 million, and facing complications in any potential deal for Bowen, Newcastle and manager Eddie Howe see Madueke as a more feasible acquisition.
Although formal negotiations have not yet commenced, Newcastle’s initial approach signifies their interest in assessing Madueke’s availability.
Chelsea, after a summer spending spree of £65 million on five new signings, are looking to offload fringe players, making Madueke a viable candidate for sale.
Chelsea acquired Madueke from Dutch club PSV for £29 million in January 2023.
Since his arrival, the England Under-21 international has played a limited role, making 46 appearances and scoring nine goals.
In contrast, Newcastle’s current right-wing options, Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy, managed to score only six Premier League goals between them last season, just one more than Madueke’s tally.
Newcastle United view Madueke as a significant upgrade for their squad and are well-positioned to secure his signature.
With their eyes set on the promising winger, Newcastle United are prepared to invest significantly to bolster their attacking lineup ahead of the new season.
