Enzo Fernandez has been receiving some sticks since winning the Copa America, as video footage went viral of him singing an offensive song aimed at the French national team.

The song has been deemed racist by some, with Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana taking a swipe at Enzo Fernandez, and also unfollowing him on social media.

Enzo Fernandez has received support from his Argentina teammate Rodrigo De Paul, who also criticised Wesley Fofana for poorly handling the situation.

De Paul believes Fofana should have reached out to Enzo Fernandez privately.

The Atletico midfielder said, as quoted by TN: “Now they are talking about Enzo and all that nonsense. What I can say is do not analyze the song that much. One sings it more as a joke.

“I think that if any of Enzo’s colleagues felt offended, they should have called him, not exposed him on social media. That was malicious.

“They are kicking a fallen tree. They could have called him and said: ‘What happened?’. Unfollowing him seems totally pointless to me. There is no need to make such a show of it.”

Don’t worry, we’re gonna let off that Fofana, who had played is football more on the injury pitch than on the football pitch.. Is he a French person by the way? His country is looking for footballers to represent them..
