In a bid to secure the services of their rising star, Chelsea are set to reward Cole Palmer with a new contract following his stellar debut season.

The Blues are confident that the England international will remain at the club for the next decade.

Palmer, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City last summer, made an immediate impact by scoring 25 goals in his first season.

His impressive form continued on the international stage, where he scored in the final and provided a crucial assist in the semi-final of the European Championship.

The 22-year-old initially signed a seven-year contract with an option for an additional 12 months, earning approximately £80,000 per week.

This places him at the lower end of the wage scale among England internationals, earning significantly less than his Chelsea teammate Raheem Sterling.

Recognizing his contributions and potential, Chelsea are planning to reward Palmer with incremental wage increases to better reflect his value to the team.

These adjustments are expected to be made privately within his current contract, rather than through a public announcement of a new deal.

A source close to the club told Telegraph Sport, “Chelsea expect Cole to be at the club for the next 10 years.

“So of course, they will look after him and make sure his wages reflect his performances.

“There is no need to do that publicly or with grand announcements. The club will work with Cole and his representatives, rather than doing their business in public.”

Under the guidance of new head coach Enzo Maresca, Chelsea are optimistic that Palmer can maintain and even elevate his form from last season.

As Chelsea prepare for their pre-season tour in America, Palmer will not be among the traveling squad.

The attacking midfielder is scheduled to rejoin the team next month, providing him with a well-deserved break after a demanding season.

This move to secure Palmer’s future with improved wages underscores Chelsea’s commitment to nurturing their young talents and maintaining a competitive squad for the foreseeable future.
