Cole Palmer scored England’s only goal as the Three Lions were beaten by Spain in the Euro 2024 final.
Palmer came on for Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, and scored just 142 seconds later, which was England’s fastest European Championship goal from a substitute.
At 22 years and 69 days, Cole Palmer is the youngest substitute to score in a Euro final.
Despite Cole Palmer’s effort, it wasn’t enough for the Three Lions to claim the trophy, as Mikel Oyarzabal scored the winning goal for Spain from Marc Cucurella’s cross in the 86th minute.
Cole Palmer was in tears after the final whistle, and he had encouraging words for his teammates after the game.
“We got to another final, there are positives to take,” the Chelsea star told ITV.
“Obviously everyone wanted to go a step further, and we’re disappointed that we didn’t… [but] the World Cup’s in two years’ time, we need to remember this feeling and hopefully push on and try and win it.”
