Messi reveals what he told Enzo Fernandez after stealing his goal

Argentina defeated Canada 2-0 in the Copa America semi-final, as goals from Julian Alvarez and Lionel Messi sealed the victory.

Enzo Fernandez struck a shot in the 51st minute that was heading into the goal, but Lionel Messi deflected it past the Canada goalie Maxime Crepeau to become the owner of the goal.

Lionel Messi has revealed that he didn’t mean to rob Enzo Fernandez of his goal.

Speaking with TyC after the game, Messi said: “I told Enzo that it was not the intention to take the goal from him, but I saw that the goalkeeper just lay down, the ball was coming slowly and I deflected it a little.”

The Chelsea midfielder has been having a good tournament in the Copa America, and against Canada he made 73 touches, recorded a 90.5% pass accuracy rate, made three tackles and an interception and blocked a shot.

Argentina will face Colombia in the Copa America final.
