‘I rejected offers from Chelsea and Real Madrid’

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has revealed that he has no regrets about rejecting offers from Chelsea and Real Madrid during his illustrious career at Anfield.

Gerrard, who played 17 seasons in the Premier League for Liverpool, making over 500 appearances, admitted in a recent interview with MBC that his loyalty to Liverpool never wavered despite interest from some of Europe’s top clubs.

“I had offers from Real Madrid and Chelsea, but my heart was always with Liverpool. I never regretted my decision. If I could go back in time, I’d do the same,” Gerrard said.

Throughout his career, Gerrard was often linked with moves away from his boyhood club, especially to rivals Chelsea. Real Madrid also showed interest in signing him in 2008.

However, Gerrard chose to stay at Liverpool, where his leadership played a crucial role in the club’s successes, including the memorable 2005 UEFA Champions League victory and two FA Cup trophies.

Despite never winning a Premier League title, Gerrard’s commitment to Liverpool is legendary. Only Ryan Giggs and Gerrard’s former teammate Jamie Carragher have made more Premier League appearances for a single club.

Meanwhile, Kepa Arrizabalaga is back at Chelsea, after spending last season on loan with Real Madrid.

Al-Ittihad, a Saudi Pro League club, is showing interest in signing Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Kepa, who has recently completed a loan spell at Real Madrid, is no longer in Chelsea’s long-term plans.

With only a year left on his contract, Chelsea are open to selling the Spaniard.

Al-Ittihad is also in discussions with Brazilian keeper Bento, and Kepa is considered a strong alternative. This potential transfer aligns with Al-Ittihad’s strategy to strengthen their squad by acquiring experienced European players.

Reports suggest Arrizabalaga is willing to wait for Real Madrid to approach him again before making a decision on his future.

Real Madrid may see Kepa as a backup choice if Andriy Lunin decides to leave.
