Chelsea have reached an agreement with Leicester City to sign midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall for a fee of £30 million, according to The Athletic.
The 25-year-old, who has been a pivotal player for Leicester, is set to complete a medical today, with personal terms already agreed upon for a contract that will run until 2030.
Dewsbury-Hall, an academy graduate from Leicester, is seen as an ideal fit for Chelsea’s new style of play under head coach Enzo Maresca, who took over from Mauricio Pochettino earlier this summer. This signing marks a significant addition to Chelsea’s squad as they look to strengthen their midfield options.
The deal comes after Chelsea submitted an official offer to Leicester on Friday, which was accepted. Despite interest from Brighton & Hove Albion, Dewsbury-Hall chose to move to Stamford Bridge. His existing contract with Leicester was set to run until 2027, but the allure of joining Chelsea proved too strong to resist.
Last season, Dewsbury-Hall was instrumental in Leicester’s campaign, starting 41 out of 46 league games under Maresca. He showcased his talents by scoring 12 goals and providing 14 assists, helping Leicester secure a return to the Premier League at the first attempt.
Having joined Leicester’s youth system at the age of eight in 2006, Dewsbury-Hall progressed through the ranks to make his first-team debut in 2020. His rise through the academy to become a first-team regular has been a testament to his dedication and skill.
Brighton had shown interest in Dewsbury-Hall earlier, holding talks in January, but the move did not materialize. Now, with his imminent move to Chelsea, Dewsbury-Hall is set to embark on a new chapter in his career, bringing his dynamic midfield presence to Stamford Bridge.
