Chelsea finished 12th in the Premier League two seasons ago, after Todd Boehly took ownership of Chelsea.

Chelsea finished 6th last term, as the Blues ended the season in fine form.

Former Blue William Gallas, has told new manager Enzo Maresca that the target next season is to finish in the top four.

Speaking to Gambling Zone, William Gallas said: “Enzo Maresca did a brilliant job at Leicester City and I know he was Pep Guardiola assistant, so  Chelsea are clearly copying Arsenal’s model with Mikel Arteta.

“Maresca is clearly a long-term appointment, but he will not finish top of the Premier League with their current squad. Mauricio Pochettino finished sixth and he was sacked so the aim for Maresca has to be the top four.

“Maresca has to be given time but we know what Chelsea are like, you never know with them. Definitely, the challenge for Maresca is to get Chelsea to qualify for the Champions League, otherwise he will be a failure.”
