Chelsea are reportedly considering a summer bid for Brazilian defender Murillo from Nottingham Forest.

The Blues have expressed serious interest in the 21-year-old centre-back and have already initiated discussions with Forest regarding a potential deal, according to UOL.

Nottingham Forest have set a £51 million ($64 million) price tag for Murillo, a figure Chelsea are unwilling to match. Instead, the west London club is prepared to include two players in the deal to lower the overall transfer cost. Atletico Madrid also showed interest in Murillo, making an approach in March.

Murillo joined Nottingham Forest from Brazilian side Corinthians in August 2023, signing a five-year contract. In his debut season, he made 36 appearances across all competitions, playing a crucial role in helping Forest avoid relegation from the Premier League. Notably, Corinthians are entitled to 10 percent of any fee Forest receive for Murillo.

Chelsea’s strategy under co-owner Todd Boehly, who took over in 2022, has involved significant spending on new signings. The club appears to be focusing on younger talents, as opposed to established stars like Raheem Sterling and Christopher Nkunku. This aligns with their interest in Murillo, who fits the profile of a promising young player.

As Chelsea continues to strengthen their squad, the potential acquisition of Murillo demonstrates their commitment to investing in future talents. Whether the Blues can finalize a deal with Forest remains to be seen, but their willingness to negotiate and include player exchanges suggests they are keen on securing the Brazilian defender.
