N’Golo Kante will go down as one of the best defensive midfielders in the game. Kante is probably the best box to box midfielder of his generation.

At 33, Kante is still waxing strong, as he’s doing well in the Euros with France, after one season in Saudi Arabia.

Kante spent seven years at Chelsea – from 2016 to 2023, and he has said that playing at Chelsea allowed him improve his attacking traits.

Kante went from being a pure defensive midfielder at Leicester to being a box to box midfielder at Chelsea.

When asked about playing in a more offensive position for France, Kante said: “You have to know how to do it at the right time.

“These are things that I learned to repeat at Chelsea. We will say that it is also the maturity and sensitivity to do it at the right time with the French team. For the moment it is working well.

“As I said, the main thing is complementarity, sometimes it’s another environment that will have to be covered, sometimes it will be up to me to go there, but knowing how to do it well when you can.”
