Chelsea expected Raheem Sterling to be a huge signing at Stamford Bridge, after leaving Manchester City, but that hasn’t quite been the case.
Raheem Sterling struggled last season, and eventually lost his place in the starting team, as the likes of Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke, Nicolas Jackson and even struggling Mykhailo Mudryk were preferred ahead of him.
Chelsea are now pushing to sign Michael Olise from Crystal Palace, which could further push Sterling down the pecking order.
Will Chelsea keep Sterling?
According to The Athletic, Chelsea’s hierarchy are actually open to offloading Sterling this summer, but admit it’ll be difficult to sell the Englishman.
Sterling is Chelsea’s highest earner, and his wages of £320,000-a-week will scare away potential suitors.
Only Saudi Arabian clubs might will be able to pay Sterling’s wages at this time, but the Englishman isn’t keen on moving to the country.
Except something drastic happens, Sterling is likely to remain at Chelsea for at least another season.
Sterling scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in 43 appearances for Chelsea last season.
